General Notes

In July 2002, the birds formerly known as Common Snipe from the Old and New Worlds were split into two species. Our birds revert back to the older North American name of Wilson’s Snipe, scientific name Gallinago delicata, whereas Old World birds retain the name Common Snipe and the scientific name Gallinago gallinago.
