    white crowned sparrow dawson point

what a sight this morning to see a white crowned sparrow still in immataure plumage at a feeder on dawson point near the trailer park. It was quite exciting seeing it show up with three junco's. Had to grab bionculars to verify it but so nice to see a sparrow. Quite an active feeder with nuthatches pine grosbeaks and a pair of piliated woodpeckers enjoying suet. Paul burkett has promised to do a brief description of the birds he has seen since the fall. Always great to add people who watch their feeders regularily to the forum. Of particular interest is discovering birds that people assume are ordinary and of no real interst that frequesnt their feeders like the junco's and white crowned sparrow. they would have been a nice addition to the christmas bird count. Very worthwhile finding out about them now. Wonder how many more gems are out there waiting.
