Wow.  If the Redwings are back, then spring must really be here!  Funny, I hadn't actually noticed any spring-i-ness to that wind chill factor the last couple of days.  The long range forecast is that we're going to have at LEAST another three weeks of this weather.  Looks like it might be a while yet before we have any significant amounts of open water. What are those redwings going to do in the meantime???  Were any of them singing?

I have been back to the marsh twice since seeing the redwing and have not seen it so i am wondering if it perished or maybe it found a local feeder. it was not singing. I am trying to be grqcious and not want to shoot the messenger mike three wekks of this cold!!!!! I have been patient all winter for the migration it has to happen soon. I woke up thinking maybe i could  go to the marsh our mercury reads -32!!!! ouch. Looking forward to being at the marsh in a t shirt.

I hear you!  All the ducks are pent up in southern Ontario waiting for some open water to appear further north.  I have a feeling that when the weather finally breaks, we're going to see lots of open water in a very short time, and all those pent up birds in southern Ontario just itching to get a move on are going to be coming through VERY FAST!
