Hey Bruce- you beat me to it. I was up at the New Likeard landfill at about 2:00 this afternoon.  There were about 100 Herring gulls there.  I did not see any Ring-billed or other gulls mixed in though.  All of the Herring Gulls were in full adult plumage - not a single juvenile or sub-adult in the lot of them.  I also took a drive over to Notre Dame du Nord to see if anything was alive in the mouth of the river.  Lots of open water from above the bridge to right out into the lake.  I saw three Goldeneyes - two male and one female, but did not get a good enough look at them before they took flight to see if they were Common or Barrow's.

Anyway, your assessment is correct ----- it begins!
