Brent Turcotte from North Bay is developing a new web based resource that he calls OntarioFieldNaturalists.org This is a new website with a wealth of information about all things natural. It includes lists and brief reviews of every useful field guide on all aspects of nature (birds, animals, plants, bugs and sky) in Ontario. In preparing information for the field guide reviews for the site, he says he learned a few things, including that "the Coles/Chapters selection sucks and for the best field guides you may have to go online. For the best damselfly book I had to use a money order, it was a self-published book from the US." Brent also provides local information on the Nipissing District nature scene, including Christmas Bird Count results, etc.
The site is entirely text based at the moment, but development is ongoing, and looks like it will be worth going back to periodically to see how it evolves. Congratulations Brent. Keep up the good work.
