    Field Sparrow!

I had a Field Sparrow at my feeder on Sunday afternoon, and he was back again this morning. This is a "listed" species for Northern Ontario, (meaning  documentation is requested by the Ontario Bird Records Committee (OBRC),  so I will be sending in a report to the OBRC later this week. I got photos, so it should not be hard to get the record accepted. This is only the second recorded observation of this species in Timiskaming that I know of.  Bruce banded one at the marsh back in 2002 at exactly the same time of year.

Excellent.  I have only seen a field sparrow as far north as Gravenhurst (Kerr Park).  A field sparrow is listed as rare in the Nipissing area, but it hasn't been seen here in the last six years to my knowledge.

Saw the field sparrow again yesterday evening - so it is still hanging around.  Juncos are back in numbers now too.
