This past weekend was the AGM for the Ontario Bird Banding Association in Long Point, Ontario. The OBBA is a very interesting and informative meeting attended annually by many banders and birding enthusiasts from across Ontario and the surrounding provinces. Each year the Janette Dean award is presented to a bander who has contributed significantly to banding in Ontario. This year was special as our very own Bruce Murphy was presented this award for his outstanding work at the Hilliarton Marsh and his dedication for educating youth in birding and bird banding. This award is a great honour for Murph and our ongoing work at the marsh and I hope you will join me in congratulating him and the countless volunteers who have helped over the years.
Congratulations Murph, you are finally receiving the recognition for your dedication to banding in Timiskaming. It’s truly an honour working with you, and I know that my future contribution to the environment will be because of your dedication to my success and the success of all of your students.
