Reed and i saw 2 american kestrels just north of the hwy going into haileybuury (the west rd) one was sitting on a hydro line the other was in a tree. We saw them saturday around 5:30. As well i was banding at the marsh with a number of terra students and we managed to band about 60 redpolls and to the delight of all present we captured and banded our second northern shrike of the season. Redpoll numbers sem to be on the decline and the marsh is satrting to get noisier with the welcome call of redwinged blackbirds. Happy migrant finding. I imagine it won't be long before we are reading about lots of discoveries.
