Stephen Mills of the MNR is seeking some folks with good birding skills (ability to identify common and uncommon boreal species by sight and song) to help with a project in the very near future. He writes ....
"We will be starting a project south of Timmins, adding an extra field season to some work completed by folks from the CFS. We are looking at bird communities (diversity, abundance, productivity) in areas of an forest management harvest block with clumped residual areas and comparing with similar areas where residual retention is more dispersed. The project involves standard 10-minute point counts and intensive area searches. Any nests discovered during the area searches will be monitored to determine fate. Work will happen in early June through early July (sites will be visited twice). Job Classification will probably be equivalent to "Resource Technician 2", and field accommodations and food may be provided. Total contract duration will be 10-12 weeks."
