pine grosbeaks easy to find today

Hi Folks Gavin murphy and i had to go to the marsh today and we decided to take the opportunity to scout out possibilities for a new boreal owl site. Once we drove north of crick road we found small flocks of pine grosbeaks on the road eating gravel and perhaps salt most flocks were 5-8 strong the largest had perhaps 12 birds in it. We turned right at the four corners and found more flocks within a short drive we perhaps saw as many as 60 pine grosbeaks in a 10 minute drive from crick road. The majority of birds were males. interestingly there were no pines at the feeders at the marsh but there were lots of chickadees and 2 grey jays. Hopefully the grosbeaks will soon discover sunflower seeds at the marsh.
