    Snowy Owl still in Earlton

Today I saw the lighter colored snowy owl again on a large snow covered earth pile along Hwy 571. Also, about 1 KM South of Kirbyson Road, a large flock of crows, perhaps as many as 100, on the west side of the highway.

Serge - That would be a murder of crows - coming home early.

You're right, of course "Professor" Leahy. And they can be quite "murderous" when they encounter an owl. Owls will reportedly pick them off at night in their roosts. In daytime, crows will swarm an owl, an try to "repay the favor". If you are a hunter wanting wing-shooting practice, an owl decoy, a crow call and good camouflage can provide practice on a "murder". (of crows, that is) Sorry, Mike, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to play with that word.
