Could this be a Long-eared Owl?

Today in Evanturel Twp, just off Hwy 11.  Also, this afternoon, a lone European Goldfinch (No other birds with it)- couldn't get a picture, didn't get a good enough look to see if it was the Asian variety or not.

Re: Could this be a Long-eared Owl?

To try to answer my own question after looking into it some more: No, its more likely a small Great-horned Owl. The ears are too far apart, the head may not be round enough, there looks to be a white patch on the chest / throat where its head would be were it not turned, and, a Long-eared owl would likely not be back north at this time... I just haven't seen enough owls yet.

Serge, that was also my conclusion after checking my guides, for the same reasons.  I just wasn't sure about the size, as there is nothing in the picture to use as a reference.  I hadn't replied because I don't feel confident enough on owl identification, either.
