    white winged crossbill Gillies lake

Hi folks mnagaed to cpature and band our very first white winged crossbill at gillies lake yesterday. it was captured amonst 20 americanm goldfinch but i suspect it was with a small flock of crossbills. I have some very beautiful photo's if anyone wants one. WQe had some birders from Ausralia looking in on the action. Well they liked birds and they were from Australia. A very exciting bird to band. Barry Kinch banded one at Mountain chutes years ago. This warm weather has me gearing up for the migration but I know it is too early yet!!!!! And yet I can almost sense the ancient stirrings in the birds and i swear the gold finches are starting to yellow. Soon my friends soon!!!!
