    Bald Eagle - Armstrong Twp.

An adult Bald Eagle was seen on River Road in Armstrong Twp. this afternoon. While in the area, I ended up chatting with Jeff Taylor for a while, and he says he first saw the eagle back on Thursday, February 18th.  Here are a couple of the photos I got today (from quite a distance.)

Looks like a second eagle has joined Mike's eagle. It does not have the adult plumage yet. Also, today at New Liskeard waterfront, there were a couple of gulls flying around near some huts on the ice. They were pretty far away, but they were likely Herring Gulls.

Pam and I took a drive Saturday to check out River Rd. from Evanturel end down to Airport Rd.  Lots of Crows, and as many as 35 Ravens in one spot.  Found what I believe to be Serge's Eagle near MIni Farm Rd in Armstrong.  A second-year Bald Eagle from the looks of it.

Continued on out to the marsh.  Like Murph said, not much but Chickadees and Starlings, although there was definitely a Pileated Woodpecker nearby, and I sighted this through the trees...I don't even want to guess.

It was a beautiful day for a walk, though....the berms are almost completely clear,  Also had a bat fly over as I walked back to the van.

*note:  both of these pictures were enlarged for identification purposes.

Male Red-winged Blackbird?  They're due back right about now and that looks like the yellow fringe on the edge of the covered epaulet on the shoulder. Shape is right, but hard to judge size from the photo.

That's what I suspected, but didn't want to jump the gun.  No, you can't tell size from the photo, but it was definitely Redwing sized.

fanatastic I think the firsr red wing of the year deserves a prize but you will have to come to the marsh festival to get it. Well done murph
