    Ruddy ducks in Lorrainville

I'm back with family from lac à Zoël where my wife and I could observe 2 female Ruddy ducks actively feeding and diving with Ring-necked ducks.  It's my first ruddies in 6 years here.  Also present, many singing Swamp sparrows.

Ruddy's are quite reliable throughout the breeding season in Cell 1 of Hilliardton Marsh. I also see them regularly at the Englehart Lagoons in late summer and early fall. The team of duck banders with the MNR airboat has noted that, of all the locations where they band with the airboat throughout Ontario, Hilliardton Marsh is the most reliable location for Ruddy Ducks.  Not quite sure why that is.
