Thanks, I found it. This afternoon we had a BROWN CREEPER . We had sighted it a number of times but it did not settle long and close enough to get a good look at the beak and tail, but today it did. Very different body language from the rose -breasted nuthatch that happened to be on the same 10 foot dead stump where there are 2 suet cages. It lingered on another feeder shelf where there were seeds and bread crumbs and it was from that location that I was able to observe the bill through binoculars. The white-breasted has been here since the week of Oct. 22. We have never had one stay at our place so long. No wrens so far this year.
