Although outside of the official Timiskaming area of interest, I'll note this observation on the species account page for European Goldfinch, since it is so close to us and is a rare species who's status as a wild bird is still in question. This is probably an early spring migrant, travelling with the goldfinches. It seems obvious from the pattern of reports of European Goldfinch sightings to date that, though they may originally have been released birds, they have adopted migration behaviour in North America. It remains to be be demonstrated if there are sufficient numbers for them to be able to find mates of their own species and succuessfully breed in the wild.
