Thought it was about time I reported this bird - an adult male Cardinal at the house of Alex Dubec in Haileybury. (I was waiting to see if Alex was going to submit his own post on this bird.) I haven't talked to him in the last two weeks or so, but it was visiting regularly from February 20th to 28th. He got some video footage that he provided to me, but as yet I have not had time to try to extract a still image from the video. Unfortunately, the bird is not in good focus in the video, so an extracted frame would just be for a documentation shot.
Of note is that this is one of the few spring records that we have for a Cardinal in Timiskaming, Most of our recorded observations to date are in the fall or early winter, and likely represent post breeding dispersal. I will follow up with Alex to find out if this bird is still hanging around in the Haileybury area.
