    Aggressive Sparrows

For the last few days, a small wave of aggressive White-crowned Sparrows have dominated my back yard over Tree Sparrows and Juncos. The few of these last two that are left seem to show up only in the front yard, and I think they frequent my neighbor's feeder. I'm getting a few Goldfinch, a couple Pine Siskins, Redwing Blackbirds, Grackles, the odd White-throated Sparrow, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Robins, Starlings, and a Downy Woodpecker. I think that a Crow has raided my Robin's nest, as I don't see the Robin sitting on it any more, and we saw a Crow hanging around. I did my Woodcock survey last evening, and came up with 9 Woodcock. This compares with 19 in '07, 11 in '08, 10 in '09. Of those years, this is the earliest I've done it, and the most overcast.
